Social and Emotional Competencies

To be successful in our world children needs skills in working with and relating to other people, and in understanding and controlling their own emotions.

We do this by explicitly teaching children five social and emotional competencies. These are;

Self-Awareness
- Being aware of how we feel in different situations.
Self-Management
- Managing our emotions and responses, regardless of how we feel.
Social Awareness
- Being aware of how other people are feeling.
Relationship Skills
- Knowing how to make and keep friends.
Responsible Decision-Making
- Making good choices in relation to your own behaviour and decisions.
